Today, we want to highlight World Circular Textile Day.
With 92 million tonnes of textile waste ending up in landfills each year, the textile industry accounts for nearly 10% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
If the current "business-as-usual" approach continues—with no action taken to reduce textile waste—the industry's global emissions are expected to double by the end of the decade.¹ At the same time, the EU aims to achieve a circular economy by 2050.² How does that add up?
To reduce this impact, we must transition to a society where circularity is at the core—where reuse comes first, followed by recycling, and where new production only happens when absolutely necessary.
